Section 7 "Geometric Modeling and Design" of the XXII STCF

Department 406 of Descriptive Geometry and Geometric Modeling of the National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute" participated in the XXII Scientific and Technical Conference "Modern Problems of Rocket and Space Technology and Technologies". Within the conference, the department presented its scientific research in the section "Geometric Modeling and Design".

The section meeting took place on May 5, 2026 at 15:30 and became an important platform for discussing current issues of geometric modeling, digital design, and modern design of technical systems.

The section was led by: • Head – Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor K. P. Msallam • Deputy Head – Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor S. Yu. Saienko

Section participants presented meaningful and diverse reports covering a wide range of modern directions — from the application of neural networks in 3D reconstruction to the use of CAD/CAE systems in specialist training and design of complex technical objects. In particular, the program featured research on 3D modeling, additive technologies, geometric surface analysis, as well as issues of design automation and the use of artificial intelligence.

The lively discussion of the reports demonstrated the high scientific level of the presented works and the relevance of the section's topics. The section once again confirmed the important role of Department 406 in the development of modern approaches to geometric modeling and engineering design in the aerospace industry.

XXII Scientific and Technical Conference of FRST "Modern Problems of Rocket and Space Technology and Technologies"

On May 4, 2026, the XXII Scientific and Technical Conference of the Faculty of Rocket and Space Technology "Modern Problems of Rocket and Space Technology and Technologies" began its work at the National Aerospace University "KhAI".

This year's event traditionally brought together scientists, teachers, postgraduate students and students, as well as representatives of leading enterprises and scientific institutions of the industry. Among the participants — Yuzhnoye Design Bureau, Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, and the National Center for Aerospace Education named after O. M. Makarov.

The conference is held in a mixed format: some reports are presented offline in the university's protected space, others — online on the Google Meet platform. Over three days, participants will work in sections dedicated to engines and energy, modern materials and structures, as well as analytics, mathematical modeling, and space monitoring of the Earth.

This year's event is dedicated to World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day, as well as honoring the memory of the founder and first dean of the faculty — Professor Mykola Vasyliovych Belan (on the occasion of the 20th anniversary).

✈️ We remember and honor the outstanding scientist — Mykola Vasyliovych Belan (28.07.1937, Mariupol – 17.06.2006, Kharkiv)

Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, he devoted his entire life to the development of aeromechanics and the training of a new generation of engineers. After graduating from the Kharkiv Aviation Institute in 1960, he remained to work at his alma mater, where he went from a young specialist to one of the key leaders of the faculty.

🔹 From 1976 — Head of the Department of Engines and Power Plants of Space Aircraft 🔹 In 1980–2003 — Dean of the Faculty of Rocket and Space Technology 🔹 Winner of the USSR Council of Ministers Prize (1986)

His scientific and pedagogical activity became the foundation for the development of aerospace education in Kharkiv. It was under his leadership that modern approaches to training engineers in the field of space technologies were formed.

Professor Belan is an example of dedication to science, the university, and his cause. His contribution lives on in the achievements of his students and followers. Eternal memory to the great Teacher.
